This page presents an overview of our plan for product development in this area.

Equestrian sport is largely an apprenticeship industry. In other words, riding instructors and horse trainers usually hone their craft with established professionals for years before striking out on their own. That’s how they learn the ins and outs of the sport, and the special techniques that spell the difference between success and failure.

This is a great system in many ways, especially in that it provides a great deal of hands-on experience under the guidance of someone who has things really figured out. However, one downside to the approach is that it limits more general educational support for would-be instructors and trainers. It also makes it difficult for anyone without access to a job with a top professional to succeed. It even makes it more difficult for experienced professionals to broaden their knowledge and become the absolute best they can be.

That’s why we plan to offer lessons and courses for equestrian professionals as well as for competitive riders.

Our Pro Training Curriculum

Our plan is to first produce three courses of videos on how to run a profitable lesson program. Running an efficient, productive program is especially a challenge for show barns that are trying to grow their own client base. But it’s even an issue for barns devoted exclusively to providing lessons to local clients. Once this series is well underway, we’ll turn our attention to other aspects of Pro Training. These will include professional-level lessons on things such as:

• How to run a profitable show barn
• How to run a successful breeding farm
• How to improve your instructional skills
• Facility design and management
• Horse care management
• Special topics in equine science

We’ll be recruiting a variety of experts as pro-training instructors, from equine business professors at top equine colleges to people who have built successful equine businesses and professional careers from scratch. Each will offer a unique perspective on how to succeed in today’s world.
